Deep Diving into Glazes

Service Description

Date: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 17th, 18th Nov & 24th Nov to discuss the result and queries. Timing: 11: 30-3:00pm The course is designed for students to understand the glaze chemistry basics and to learnt to achieve different results with glazes. Students can expect to gain the basic understanding to start experimenting on their own. The course will be a mixture of both theory and practical approach. Course is designed in two parts: week one: Different techniques to apply and work with glazes to give your article a personal touch. week two: Learn to make glazes from scratch, how to work and understand a store bought glaze. Topics that will be covered in the workshop: week one: -Learning different glaze application techniques: Brushing, dipping, slip trailing, wax resist, layering, glaze wash, bubble effect, painting on glaze etc. -Basic understanding of different types of glazes. -Glaze defects week two: -Glaze Chemistry basics. -Learning to prepare one/two base glazes from scratch. -learn to add colorants to the glaze -Glaze testing last session to discuss the results will be organized on a different week. PS: The fee includes everything that is needed for the workshop, raw-materials, articles to be glazed etc. Everyone has to be present on t he last class for discussing the result. Applicant must have some understanding of working with ceramic, types of clay.
