Pottery is all about developing the relationship between Clay and the Maker. Especially Hand -building is so much more than just developing the skill. In Hand-building you work with your hands with help of some basic tools for detailing. You develop a deeper understanding of the medium and learn to explore your creativity through the basic techniques. The Hand-building intensive course is for those who wants to start on the journey of pottery from scratch. If you have no knowledge on the subject or if you know some bit of it but want to have a through learning, this course is for you. Or, may be you wish to take a break from your regular work life and wish to spend that time in learning a new skill. If any of the above is true for you or may be you have a completely different reason to join the course. Here is the details for you to follow before you book a slot: Details of the course: Basics of different types of clay. Working with stoneware clay, learning about different stages of the same, & workability. Learn basic Hand- building techniques, Pinching, Coiling & Slab building, deep dive individually. Hands on introduction and practice to wedging technique to prepare clay. Learning to join two pieces and finishing surfaces. Understanding the firing temperature and assisting one or more furnace loads. Understanding different defects and ways to handle them Different forms that can be explored: A closed sphere, Bowl, plate, mug, vase, Geometric shapes, nameplate, mask, abstract pieces. Ending with question answers and selecting the articles to be saved. Things to know before you enroll: # Reach 10-15 mins earlier for the class and settle down. #The maximum size of an article is within 8"*8" #8 pieces are included in firing ( bisque and one basic glaze.. If students want more articles to be fired, each article would be charged 500. # Students must clean their work area after they finish working # If any students wish to join the guided glaze application class they can. There will be gap of one week or two depending how much time the pieces take to dry. details Can be shared separately. # We don't have these courses once or twice in a year.
